I am often hesitant to take the initiative to lead. This is due to the fact that I like to have all of the details before I commit so I know my skills will be used well in the leadership position. Knowing the details helps me to evaluate if I have the skills necessary and whether or not I have the passion to drive the project forward. I often find my skills best used in a support position under the main leadership position. I have found this position to be just as important as the leadership position. A good leader is more successful with a good team behind them. If all good leaders become the head leader, then there will be no one left to form a good team and fill many other important roles. I am often willing to put the work in to accomplish tasks, but I do not enjoy the attention that is given to the head of a project. I would rather work behind the scenes to accomplish the goal. Both sophomore year and junior year I was given the opportunity to work with amazing teams and although I was not the leader, I always had an important role.
